Home solar panels

Home solar panels can help to lower the cost of monthly household bills through providing homeowners with renewable solar energy that uses less electricity. The cost of solar panel installation can range from £7,000 to £13,000 and therefore it is important to shop around. The good news is that solar panels cost approximately 50% less than 2010.
However, homeowners can now benefit from a return on investment with the Governments energy Feed-In-Tariff (FIT) scheme. Eligible applicants will have invested in renewable energy sources, such as home solar panels, to generate their electricity. In return, the homeowner will receive financial income from energy suppliers for the electricity that they have generated.
How much do solar panels cost?
Most solar PV systems will cost anywhere from £1,750 to £2,500 per kWp. This includes the installation and the more panels you install the more economies of scale you achieve.
The average three bedroomed home will require at least three of this size panel and so the cost will average out at around £7,500. While this may sound like a significant amount, it is actually much less than the cost of solar panels has been in the past and the cost is coming down all the time as the technology improves.
Your solar panels will not require very much at all in terms of maintenance. Over a 25 year lifetime you can expect to pay around £1,000 for a replacement inverter. Other than that, all they need are an occasional clean and to be kept clear of overhanging trees.
